For the first time in program history, New York Tech’s women’s soccer team is headed for post-season play.

On Saturday, the Bears defeated Queens 1-0 to closeout the East Coast Conference portion of its schedule with a record of 5-1-2 (6-6-3 overall). The win clinched a spot in the conference post-season tournament. Seedings and schedule will be announced following the final ECC matches of the season on November 14.

NYIT’s lone goal of the afternoon came in the sixth minute as Casey Luongo of Center Morchies scored her sixth goal of the season off an assist from Maggie Thibault of Baldwin.

In goal, Bears keeper Nicole Genis made three saves and earned her third clean sheet of the season.

New York Tech closes out the regular season with a nonconference match at Caldwell on November 9.
