It was a tough week for the NYIT men’s and women’s soccer teams as the former went 1-1 and the latter dropped its only match of the week.

Men’s Soccer (6-2-1)

Wednesday, September 26 — at Hockessin Soccer Stadium, Hockessin, DE
Goldey-Beacom 2
Recap: The NYIT men’s soccer team played to a draw with Goldey-Beacom through the first 80 minutes. The Lightning would score a pair of late goals en route to a 2-0 victory.

Saturday, September 29 — Karrer Field, Amherst, NY
Daemen 1
Recap: Xavi Senlik (Ronkonkoma/Deer Park High School) tallied the first two goals of his collegiate career and the Bears handed host Daemen its first East Coast Conference loss of the season with a 3-1 victory. NYIT’s leading scorer Bernd Schlüter, who had a five-match goal-scoring streak snapped in the loss to Goldey-Beacom, tallied the other goal for the Bears.

Women’s Soccer (6-3-0)

Saturday, September 29 — Karrer Field, Amherst, NY
Daemen 2
Recap: After freshman Meaghan Mancini’s first collegiate goal evened the score in the second half, the Wildcats answered in the final minute of regulation for the win. The game-winner from Katja Meyer officially came at 89:21.
