NWSL Team Rosters Feature LI, NY-Metro Area Players

As the National Women’s Soccer League opens its 2019 season on April 13, several players with connections to the Long Island and New York Metropolitan area are on the active roster of several teams.

The defending league champions North Carolina Courage open the new season led by head coach Paul Riley, who has long been active in the Long Island soccer community in Albertson.

North Carolina’s roster features a trio of local players including U.S. Women’s National Team member Crystal Dunn of Rockville Centre, East Islip’s Cari Roccaro and Meredith Speck of Rockville Centre.

Out west, Reign FC also has a trio of local players led by U.S. Women’s National Team member Allie Long of Northport, Bay Shore’s Jasmyne Spencer and Michelle Betos of New York City.

Also in the northwest, Emily Menges of Garden City will be back for another season with the Portland Thorns.

In Utah, Manhattan’s Rebecca Moros will suit up for Utah Royals FC.
