The New York Cosmos will kick off the National Premier Soccer League Founders Cup August 10 when the team travels to Tennessee to meet Chattanooga FC.
As the team continues to fill out its roster, the Cosmos will be one of 11 clubs that will compete in the inaugural Founders Cup. New York and the rest of the East Region squads will begin play on August 10. Teams in the West Region will start August 24.
The Cosmos’ home schedule will begin on August 17 in a matchup with the Milwaukee Torrent.
The Founders Cup semifinals will be held at the home of the highest remaining seeds on November 2, with the final to be held at a location to-be-determined on November 9.
In addition to the Cosmos, East Region clubs for the Founders Cup include Chattanooga FC, Detroit City FC, Miami FC, Miami United FC and Milwaukee Torrent. The West Region clubs for the Founders Cup include ASC San Diego, Cal FC, Napa Valley 1839 FC, FC Arizona and Oakland Roots.

In addition, New York also announced that it will play home games for the NPSL regular season and Founders Cup at Mitchel Athletic Complex in Uniondale. Since 2013, the Mitchel Athletic Complex has been the home of the club’s training facility.
“Mitchel Athletic Complex has served as the club’s training facility since 2013 and we felt it was the right venue for our home games as we prepare for the 2019 NPSL season and Founders Cup,” said Joe Barone, Cosmos senior vice president.
