New York City FC is now winless in its past six games after Saturday’s 2-0 road loss to Philadelphia Union.
In a Saturday afternoon match at Talen Energy Stadium, New York City dominated possession throughout, but created few chances against Philadelphia netminder Andrew Blake, who only made one save in earning the clean sheet.
With the match scoreless in the 25th minute, New York missed a golden opportunity when David Villa received a cross from Steven Mendoza and rattled the crossbar.
The match would turn one minute later when Chris Pontius would give Philadelphia a 1-0. In the 41st minute, C.J. Sapong redirected a shot from Sebastian Le Toux to double the Union’s lead.
