Long Island Soccer Club has expanded the coaching staff of its girls’ development program with the addition of Shannon Neely Noel.
Over the past two years, she has served as an assistant coach with the Fordham University women’s soccer team. Prior, she spent five years as an assistant coach at Northwestern University and three years at Grand Valley State.
As a player, she helped guide Ohio State University to three NCAA Tournament appearances including advancing to the Elite Eight in 2004.
“I am extremely excited to join the LISC staff,” said Neely Noel. “Choosing to be a part of a youth soccer organization that has such a wonderful history on Long Island and is competing at the highest levels in the Girls’ Development Academy was an amazing opportunity to invest back into the youth game.”
According to Long Island SC, Neely Noel will work with the club’s female-first initiative. The coaching model prioritizes integrating the female perspective, insight and expertise into the culture of all girls teams at LISC.
Additional female-first coaches will be announced supporting the build-out of new teams for Long Island SC girls’ development academy and teams that participate in other competitive leagues.
