Following its upset win over No. 22 Boston College in the First Round of the NCAA Women’s Soccer Tournament, Hofstra is heading west.
The Pride’s women’s soccer team will be back on the pitch Friday to face the University of Wisconsin. Kick off at Stanford Stadium in Palo Alto, CA, is 7:30 p.m. ET.
Hofstra’s 4-1 win over the Eagles on Friday was the team’s seventh straight. During the postseason, Simon Riddiough’s team has allowed one goal in 360 minutes of action. The offense during the postseason has been lead by sophomores Sabrina Bryan (4 goals) and Lucy Porter (3 goals, 1 assist) and Kings Park’s Jenn Buoncore (3 assists).
The Pride’s opponent in the Round of 32, Wisconsin, is 13-3-4 on the season. The Badgers defeated Memphis 3-0 in the opening round of the tournament. The Big Ten team finished third in the conference behind Penn State and Rutgers. On the season, Wisconsin scored 29 goals and conceded 18.
Offensively the Badgers are led by sophomore Lauren Rice with 7 goals and 2 assists, junior Dani Rhodes with 6 goals and 2 assists and sophomore Cameron Murtha with 5 goals and 4 assists. In goal, Jordyn Bloomer started all 20 games. She has a 0.85 goals-against average and .780 save percentage.
The winner of the Hofstra-Wisconsin match will face the winner of No. 1 Stanford and Mississippi on Sunday.
