For the second time in three seasons, New York City FC opened its season on the road in Orlando. But unlike 2015, when the two teams that were making their Major League Soccer debuts played to a 1-1 draw, Orlando City SC defeated NYCFC 1-0.
The 2017 season opener for both teams was also the debut of the new Orlando City Stadium, the 25,500 seat venue that cost $155 million to construct.
Despite NYCFC controlling much of the match, Orlando City was able to ride Cyle Larin’s 15th minute goal to victory.
