Long Island High Schools Ranked In National Poll

NSCAA, High School PollWith the high school soccer season on Long Island well underway, several teams from Nassau and Suffolk counties are featured in the weekly USA Today/NSCAA Super 25 Fall High School Rankings released on September 13.

On the boys side, local teams ranked include Walt Whitman High School (No. 7, up from No.15) and Chaminade (No. 14, up from No. 21). Also receiving votes but sitting outside the Top-25 is St. Anthony’s.

During the week of the poll (Sept. 6-Sept.12), Whitman had wins over Lindenhurst 2-0 and Riverhead 6-0. Chaminade, which tied Whitman 2-2 in the two teams’ season opening match, defeated St. Mary’s 8-0 and Hicksville 2-0.

The NSCAA girls poll included Massapequa (No. 5, up from No. 6), Islip (No. 11, up from No. 13) and St. Anthony’s (No. 15, up from No. 18).

Massapequa’s week included wins over Immaculate Heart Academy 4-2 and South Side 5-1. Islip remained unbeaten with wins over Bayport-Blue Point 2-0 and Mt. Sinai 4-1, while St. Anthony’s defeated South Side 2-1.
