Sky Blue FC won its third road game of the season with a 1-0 victory over Reign FC Saturday night at Cheney Stadium in Tacoma, Wash.

The game’s only goal came from Carli Lloyd, whose tally in the 77th minute would prove to be the game-winner.

In the buildup to the goal, Raquel Rodriguez found an open Nahomi Kawasumi steaking down the left sideline. Kawasumi then sent a pass toward goal that eluded three Reign players and fell to Lloyd.

Facing Reign FC keeper Casey Murphy who came off her line, Lloyd’s shot with the outside of her right foot found the back of the net.

Lloyd led Sky Blue with five shots and Rodriguez had four for the visitors. In goal, Kailen Sheridan made four saves to earn the clean sheet.

Sky Blue FC (5-13-4) will return home for its final home game of the season on Sunday, September 29. The match against the Orlando Pride will be played at Red Bull Arena at 11 p.m.
