Junior Burgos gave New York the lead in the 23rd minute from the spot after Pedro Galvao was taken down in the box. The Salvadoran international rifled his attempt into the left side of the net past goalkeeper Jack Rivers.
Seven minutes later Ledula would double the Cosmos lead after connecting with a feed from David Diosa. The former LIU Post star would get his brace in the 40th minute to extend New York’s lead to 3-0.
The Cosmos had its NPSL shutout streak snapped at 325 minutes after a Rough Diamonds player was taken down in the penalty area. Luke Neves drilled his attempt past goalkeeper Jesse Corke in the 55th minute.
Salvatore Barone restored the Cosmos’ three-goal lead in the 62nd minute as he fired a 35-yard freekick from the right side that went off River’s hands and into the net.
Hassan would then grab the spotlight with goals in the 70th minute and 76th minute.
Bledi Bardic, who tallied twice in the U.S. Open Cup, closed out the scoring with his first NPSL goal in the 88th minute.
