Lampard’s MLS Debut With NYCFC On Hold Again

FrankLampardFrank Lampard’s New York City FC debut is on hold for another week.

NBC Sports Pro Soccer Talk reported that Lampard’s calf injury suffered in training more than a week ago continues to be an issue and will keep him out of this week’s match against New England Revolution.

Jason Kreis, NYCFC’s head coach, said that Lampard is simply not healthy.

“We really thought last week, based on the severity of the calf injury, that we’d have a player who would be available this weekend, but plans and reality sometimes don’t mesh,” Kreis told Pro Soccer Talk. “He’s still carrying the calf injury and we’re not going to take a risk with it.”

The head coach said he is “hopeful” that his designated player will be available for the team’s July 26 match at home vs. Orlando City SC.
