The Kings Park Komets are Arch Cup champions as they defeated the Carle Place Dominators 2-1 in the Girls U-11 Gold Division.
The Eastern New York Youth Soccer Association championship game was played on Saturday, June 3, at Stringham Park in LaGrange.
Sophia Dorsey and Mia Plutzer scored for Kings Park.
“It was a very tight game,” said Scott Dorsey, Kings Park coach. “I thought Carle Place outplayed us but we scored two goals at the beginning of the first half and they held up.”
Kings Park also received the Rocco Amoroso Sportsmanship Award as determined by the game officials. Amoroso, a US Soccer Life Member who died in 2016, started the LIJSL Sportsmanship Program in 1980 that would later expand to Eastern New York, nationally and then to China and Ireland.
