After four years as Fairleigh Dickinson University’s netminder, Holbrook native Amanda Fitzgerald is eyeing the next step in her soccer career.

The Sachem East High School graduate has declared for the 2020 National Women’s Soccer League College Draft, which will be held January 16 at the Baltimore Convention Center. The draft consists of four rounds and 36 picks.

Fitzgerald is FDU’s all-time program leader in saves (396), save percentage (.784) and clean sheets (19). She led the Knights to 31 wins in her four years and a pair of NEC Championship appearances. During that time she started 78 games in net and logged 7,226 minutes.

“Amanda possesses incredible talent and she is the type of player who can continue her game at the next level,” said Eric Teepe, head coach of FDU’s women’s soccer team.
