Also, junior Lucy Porter was named the Conference Preseason Midfielder of the Year. She was joined on the Preseason All-CAA team by junior forward Sabrina Bryan.

The CAA accolade is the second preseason honor for Porter. She was recently named to the women’s MAC Hermann Trophy watch list, the award given to the top male and female soccer players in the country. She comes off a sophomore season when she scored a career-high 11 goals. Porter also received several post-season honors in 2018 including All-ECAC Team, United Soccer Coaches Association All-East Region First Team, CAA First Team Honoree and was named to the CAA All-Tournament Team.

Bryan scored a team-high 13 goals last season for Hofstra, which tied her for seventh on the school’s all-time single-season list. She also collected CAA First Team and USC All-Region Second Team honors.

Hofstra finished its 2018 campaign with a record of 16-6-1. The CAA Champions qualified for the NCAA Tournament and advanced to the second round after its 4-1 defeat of Boston College in the tournament’s opening round.

Hofstra opens the 2019 season at Monmouth on Friday, August 23. The team will open the home portion of its schedule on Sunday, September 1, against Fordham.
