The defending Colonial Athletic Association champion Hofstra women’s soccer team has set its 18-game schedule for the 2019 season, which includes three 2018 NCAA tournament teams.

Head coach Simon Riddiough’s team opens the season with three straight road games at Monmouth on August 23, Penn State on August 25 and Brown on August 30. The team’s home opener is Sunday, September 1, vs Fordham.

“I am very excited about this year’s schedule,” said Riddiough, who is entering his 14th season as head coach. “Our schedule presents us with incredible opportunities to test ourselves against several of the top soccer programs in the nation.”

Among the highlights on the schedule is a Long Island Derby match on September 8 against Stony Brook. Hofstra will head east to LaValle Stadium where it will faceoff against Riddiough’s former assistant coach Tobias Bischof.

Three days prior to the Stony Brook match, the Pride will meet defending Big-10 champion Rutgers at Yurcak Field in Piscataway, N.J.

On September 26, Hofstra will play the first of nine CAA matches at home against Drexel.

The top six teams from the regular season will qualify for the CAA Championship, set to take place in early November. The quarterfinals will be played Friday, Nov. 1, with the semifinals scheduled on Sunday, Nov. 3, with both of those contests taking place at the site of either the No. 1 or 2 seed. A CAA champion will be crowned on Saturday, Nov. 9, at the site of the highest remaining seed.

The 64-team NCAA Championship is slated to begin on Friday, Nov. 15, and Sunday, Nov. 17. The tournament will carry through the month of November and into December with an NCAA Champion being crowned on Sunday, Dec. 8 at Avaya Stadium in San Jose, Calif.
