The Colonial Athletic Association’s post-season awards season started with a bang for the Hofstra women’s soccer team. Four members of the Pride walked away with major CAA awards while a school-record eight players were named to four all-conference teams.

Junior Sabrina Bryan was named the Attacking Player of the Year, junior Lucy Porter Midfielder of the Year, freshman Anja Suttner the Defensive Player of the Year and Rookie of the Year and Simon Riddiough as Coach of the Year.

“This is a tremendous honor for our program,” said Riddiough. “I can’t thank our outstanding coaching staff, Gerry Lucey, Kelsey Yam and Ruairi McGuinness enough for their hard work and relentless dedication throughout the season.”

Bryan and Porter have been standouts for Hofstra on the offensive side. Earning her first major award, Bryan has seven goals and eight assists. Porter, who prior to the start of the season was named to the MAC Hermann Watch List has 14 goals and seven assists. She ranks fifth nationally in total points and eighth in goals and is approaching the Hofstra single-season record in both categories.

In her freshman season, Suttner has been a fixture at center back anchoring a backline that has allowed 0.95 goals per match. This is the third straight year Hofstra has garnered CAA Defensive Player of the Year honors following Madeline Anderson in 2017 and 2018. In addition, this is the second straight year Hofstra has won Rookie of the Year as Miri Taylor won the award in 2018.
