The HBC Impact are on their way to the Lone Star State.
The New York State Girls U-17 Champions went five-for-five in the U.S. Youth Soccer Region I Championships held over the July 4th holiday weekend in Spotsylvania, Virginia. As a result, HBC earned a spot in the U.S. Youth Soccer National Championships set for July 25-30 in Frisco, Texas.
To qualify for Nationals, HBC defeated New Jersey’s Princeton SA 2-1. Talani Barnett scored in the 35th minute and Nicole Scudero scored what proved to be the game-winning goal in the 76th minute. With the win, HBC Impact has now won three consecutive Region I Championship titles.
In the Group Stage, HBC opened play with a 2-0 win over DE Rush of Delaware on goals from Barnett and Lindsay Wright. Match two was a 5-1 win over Beading 2000 Girls Elite of Western Pennsylvania. Despite conceding the first goal 9 minutes in, HBC bounced back on goals from Barnett (2), Wright, Gina Giovinco and Sabrina Bell. The Impact closed out group play with a 2-0 win over FC Stars of Mass. Central United as Barnett and Ryan Conway found the back of the net.
In the semi-finals, HBC and LMSC Storm of Eastern Pennsylvania were locked in a battle that needed extra time. The Impact’s Wright scored in the 108th minute to give HBC the 1-0 win.
