Emily Menges is in her sixth season as a member of the Portland Thorns FC and recently surpassed a milestone that few others in the NWSL have achieved.

The Garden City native made her 100th career appearance in the Thorns 3-1 loss to the Washington Spirit on Saturday, May 18. She is one of only three Thorns players to reach the century mark in appearances and only the eighth in league history to achieve the mark with the same team.

Overall, Menges is the 24th player in NWSL history to play 100 career games.

Since joining Portland in 2014 as its third-round pick (25th overall) in the NWSL College Draft, she has been a mainstay in the Thorns lineup. Her debut came April 12 that same year in a 1-0 win over the Houston Dash.

She is also widely regarded as one of the top defenders in the league. Menges was named to the NWSL Best XI in 2016, and to the NWSL Second XI in 2017 and 2018. She was also a member of Portland’s league championship team in 2017.
