While Landon Donovan remains in retirement enjoying this time with “Hat Trick Rick,” the LA Galaxy have reacquired goalkeeper Donovan Ricketts from Orlando City SC for a second-round pick in the 2016 MLS SuperDraft.

“Donovan is one of the most experienced and successful goalkeepers in MLS,” said Bruce Arena, Galaxy head coach general manager. “He is familiar with our team and has proven to be a player capable of winning championships.”

Ricketts has 177 MLS Regular Season appearances with 74 wins during his seven year career in the league. He was a member of the Galaxy in 2011 when the squad won MLS Cup. He is also a two-time MLS Goalkeeper of the Year.

In addition to his time in Los Angeles, Ricketts also played for Montreal Impact in 2012 and Portland Timbers from 2012-2014.

The acquisition of Ricketts fills the spot vacated when Jaime Penedo and the Galaxy agreed to mutually terminate the netminder’s contract.
