Following a week in which Alyssa Francese helped lead the Stony Brook women’s soccer team to two wins, the junior forward was named the American East Co-Offensive Player of the Week.
The native of Yorktown Heights, N.Y., shares the award this week with Sierra Stone, a senior midfielder at Hartford.
For Francese, this is the second time this season she has received the conference Offensive Player of the Week honor.
This past week, Francese scored the first and fourth goals in a 4-0 win over the University of Maryland Baltimore County. Against Binghamton, she scored an insurance goal in the 70th minute in a 2-0 win over the Bearcats.
Through 13 games this season, Francese has a team-leading nine goals. Over the past three games, she has scored five times.
She currently leads the America East Conference in several key offensive categories including goals, game-winning goals (5), points (18) and shots on goal (18).
