Hofstra University alumnae Leah Galton has agreed to a new contract with Manchester United. Her new deal will keep her at the club through the 2020/21 season with an option to extend an additional year.
Since joining United in 2018, the former Sky Blue FC player has made 34 appearances with six goals.
“I’m so pleased for Leah; her development since she joined the club has been fantastic to witness,” said Casey Stone, Manchester United head coach. “She is a strong presence on the pitch and I believe she is one of the best in the country in her position. I’m looking forward to seeing her develop even further during her time here.”
Galton said she is thrilled to extend her contract.
“I’m enjoying my football here under the guidance of Casey and the coaching staff and I just want to keep improving to become the best player I can be,” she said. “We have an incredible group here and our ambitions are big; I hope I can contribute to many successful years with this team.”
At Hofstra, Galton was a four-year starter earning a host of accolades. She made 82 appearances (80 starts) and finished her college career with 48 goals and 26 assists for head coach Simon Riddiough’s squad.
She was drafted by Sky Blue in the second round of the 2016 NWSL College Draft. Over two seasons she would make 30 appearances and score five goals.
