Florenz Again Named America East Top Rookie

What will Rachel Florenz do for her next act?

The East Islip High School graduate and freshman for Stony Brook’s Women’s Soccer Team was named the America East Rookie of the Week for the second consecutive week.

In the Seawolves 2-0 win over Massachusetts on Friday, August 25, Florenz opened the scoring with a goal at the seven-minute mark. According to the game report from Stony Brook, the midfielder collected a turnover at the top of the box and put a shot into the back of the net.

Through Stony Brook’s first four matches of the season, of which she has started three, Florenz has three goals, which leads the team, with six total shots and four shots on goal. She is also tied with New Hampshire’s Brooke Murphy for the most goals scored in the conference just four games into the season.
