Farmingdale State WSOC Top Ranked In Skyline Conference

Farmingdale State will begin the 2018 season as the top-ranked team in the Skyline Conference preseason women’s soccer coaches poll.

The Rams with 76 points (four first-place votes) edged out Mount Saint Mary College by two points despite the Knights receiving six first-place votes. Rounding out the top-five are College of Mount Saint Vincent (61), St. Joseph’s College-Long Island (53) and SUNY Purchase College (51).

Farmingdale State in 2017 finished with a record of 13-8-2 winning the Skyline Conference by defeating Mount Saint Mary 1-0. The Rams qualified for the NCAA Division III Tournament but lost to Carnegie Mellon 1-0 in the First Round.

Among Farmingdale State’s top returning players this season are junior goalkeeper Daniella Ford (Elmont), junior midfielder Tara Lyons (Wantagh) and senior defender Erin Purack (Farmingdale) each of who garnered 2017 First Team All-Skyline Conference Honors, and senior defender Alyssa Gaynor (East Northport) who was named to the 2017 Second Team.
