Farmingdale State has spent the season atop the Skyline Conference and closed out the regular season ranked as one of the top Division III teams nationally.
The Rams are the top seed in the Skyline Women’s Soccer Championship, which opens Sunday with four first-round matches. On Halloween, they will host the winner of the match between No. 4 Sarah Lawrence and No. 5 St. Joseph’s-Brooklyn. Game time Wednesday is 4 p.m.
The other opening round match features No. 3 St. Joseph’s-LI vs. No. 6 Mount Saint Vincent. Mount Saint Mary is the No. 2 seed. The finals will be held on Saturday, November, at the site of the highest remaining seed.
Farmingdale State (15-3-2, 9-0-0 Skyline) closed out the regular season ranked No. 22 in the USA Today/United Soccer Coach Division III Women’s Soccer Poll. The team’s keeper, Daniella Ford, was recently named the Division III women’s soccer player of the week by United Soccer Coaches.
Through its 20 regular season games, 20 Rams players have accounted for the team’s 63 goals. Julissa Martinez of Brentwood leads the team with nine goals with Tara Lyons of Wantagh and Alyssa Parrotta of Centereach tied for second with eight goals each. Allison Khare of Deer Park and Meagan Murdocco of North Babylon finished the regular season with six goals each.
