An early goal by Hofstra’s Madeline Anderson (Westbury) was all that was needed as the Pride topped Fordham Friday night in a women’s soccer match at Hofstra Soccer Stadium.

Anderson got Hofstra on the board early, heading in a corner kick from senior Noriana Radwan just 5:29 into the game.

Hofstra had a pair of opportunities to double its lead in the second half, with junior Jenn Buoncore (Kings Park) just missing on a cross from freshman Sabrina Bryan, and freshman Lucy Shepherd sending in a shot that had to be booted away from the open goal by Fordham defender Brooklyn Gonzalez.

Fordham also pressed their attack throughout the second half, outshooting the Pride, 5-3. Senior goalkeeper Jenna Borresen (East Meadow) made her first career start in net for Hofstra and was credited with four saves in earning the clean sheet.

Fordham goalkeeper Kelly LaMorte finished the match with three saves.
