One month into the NWSL season and the accolades have started for Rockville Centre native Crystal Dunn who was named the league’s Player of the Month for April.

The North Carolina Courage star scored four goals in three games to lead the defending league champions to a 2-0-1 record. Her quartet of goals leads the Golden Boot race. In addition, Dunn’s eight shots on target rank second in the league.

In North Carolina’s Week 1 draw with the Chicago Red Stars, Dunn scored the equalizer. The following week, she had two goals and an assist in a 5-0 win over the Orlando Pride. In Week 3, she scored her team’s second of the match in the 60th minute in a 4-1 win over the Houston Dash.

Chicago Red Stars forward Yuki Nagasato finished second in Player of the Month voting. Portland Thorns FC midfielder Tobin Heath was third.

The NWSL Player of the Month is selected each month of the regular season by the NWSL Media Association, a collection of writers that cover the league on a consistent basis.
