Trailing by a goal as the match inched toward the final 20 minutes, Elizabeth Eddy received the ball from Sarah Killion on the end line and sent a pass across the box where she found a wide open Dorsey. With one touch, Dorsey sent the shot back at the far-right corner of the net to tie the game up at 1-1.
Sky Blue’s game-tying goal came just a minute after the roadside nearly tied the match. In the 68th minute, Killion sent the ball across to Gina Lewandowski running at the back post who headed the ball at goal only to be denied by the post.
Portland’s lone goal came in the 38th minute after a penalty kick was awarded from a foul committed by Estelle Johnson. Christine Sinclair stepped up to the spot and hit the back of the net to put the Thorns up 1-0.
