Diskerud Calls Overrated Label ‘An Honor’

mixA recent ESPN FC poll of more than 120 current Major League Soccer players found that many of Mix Diskerud’s peers feel is his the most overrated player in the league.

But the New York City FC midfielder views this as an honor.

“If you look at that list, it’s almost an honor to be with those guys,” Diskerud told ESPN FC. “It’s just quality players, and every day of the week I’d like to be on a list with them. If I’m going to answer that, I’d like to answer it anonymously as well.”

While Diskerud struggled during his first season with the MLS side, his play has been solid this season under new head coach Patrick Vieira, who shifted the U.S. International to a central midfield role.

Vieira told ESPN FC that he likes Diskerud’s cleverness and feels his midfielder is smart player and technically sound who can also find the back of the net.

The man they call Mix was not the only NYC FC player view as overrated. Teammates Frank Lampard and Andrea Pirlo were among the top four players seen as overrated.
