Two Long Island boys soccer teams are ranked in the top-10 nationally in the latest USA Today/United Soccer Coaches weekly poll
For the week ending September 9, Commack High School is ranked No. 5, up seven spots from the previous week, while Chaminade comes in at No. 10 after not being ranked in the Top-25 in the previous week’s poll.
Commack has started the season with two clean sheet wins, 3-0 over Floyd and 1-0 over Brentwood. Chaminade has started the season 3-0 with wins over Regis 6-0, Hicksville 1-0 and St. John The Baptist 4-3.
On a regional basis, several Long Island high school boys teams are ranked in the top 15 of Region II. Included are No. 1 Commack, No. 2 Chaminade, No. 7 Hauppauge, No. 9 Brentwood, No. 10 Amityville, No. 11 Syosset and No. 12 Center Moriches.
While no Long Island girls high school teams are ranked in the Top-25 by USA Today/United Soccer Coaches, several are ranked in Region IV’s Top-15. They include No. 4 Massapequa, No. 7 North Shore and No. 11 Northport.
