The Lindenhurst native received the honor after she scored her first collegiate goal in a 1-0 win over Seton Hall University on September 6. Her goal came in the 43rd minute when she collected a loose ball and hit a shot into the upper left corner.
Cagnina has been a fixture on the pitch during the season for the Sharks. In the team’s first five games, she has played 440 minutes.
In addition, the NEC named Amanda Fitzgerald as its Defensive Player of the Week. The senior goalkeeper from Holbrook recorded a combined 10 saves over two games for Fairleigh Dickinson University this past week. She made seven saves in a 1-0 loss to Monmouth and three saves in a 1-1 draw against William & Mary.
