The loss of a key cog in the team’s attack comes as City begins another journey into Champions League with the hope of getting out of what should prove to be a very challenging Group D, which also includes Juventus, Sevilla and Borussia Monchengladbach.
City manager Manuel Pellegrini noted that injuries are inevitable during any season.
“That’s why when you have choose your squad for season it’s important to have two players for every position,” he said. “We have injuries, it’s difficult with the amount of games and intensity of the Premier League not to have injuries. In this case we have a lot of problems, but I trust this squad 100 percent.”
With Aguero out, Pellegrini will have the services of David Silva (ankle), Raheem Sterling (hamstring), Fernandinho and Samir Nasri. Fernandinho and Nasri were not at the team’s training session on Monday, but the manager said they should be fit for selection.
