Adelphi women’s soccer forward Jeanine Nunez earned her first All-American honor from United Soccer Coaches, landing on the All-America Third Team. This is the fourth consecutive year the Panthers have placed a player on a Division II All-America team.
The senior from Staten Island finished the 2017 campaign with appearances in all 19 games — starting 18 — with 12 goals and 5 assist having played more than 1,500 minutes.
Nunez started the season strong, scoring in Adelphi’s first six matches and seven out of 10. She had seven shots on goal twice during the season (October 11 vs. New Haven and October 31 vs. Merrimack).
The Panthers were the Northeast-10 regular season champions for the third year in a row and earned the top seed in the East Region bracket of the NCAA Championship, their third straight appearance in the NCAA tournament. Adelphi finished the season with a 15-4 record under third-year head coach Brooke DeRosa.
This year’s NCAA Division II All-Americans will be formally acknowledged for their accomplishments at the United Soccer Coaches All-America Luncheon on Jan. 20, 2018, at the Pennsylvania Convention Center in conjunction with the 2018 United Soccer Coaches Convention in downtown Philadelphia.
