It was a big week for the Adelphi men’s and women’s soccer teams as they collectively went 3-1. The lone loss was on the women’s side, a 1-0 defeat to Southern Connecticut State.
Men’s Soccer (6-2-1)
Tuesday, September 25 — Motamed Field
Recap: James Thristino of Port Jefferson Station scored for the fourth straight contest to lead Adelphi, as he notched a pair of goals for the second time in the span of a week. His two tallies sandwiched Patrick Guier’s second score of the season, as Taylor Kaczynski of Dix Hills notched two assists on each of the Panthers’ first two goals.
Saturday, September 29 — Penmen Stadium, Hooksett, NH
Southern New Hampshire 2
Recap: Adelphi used four first-half goals en route to an upset of No. 6 Southern New Hampshire State. Patrick Guier scored the game’s first goal in just under five minutes. The Panthers also got goals from James Thristino, Paolo Marciano and Taylor Kaczynski. Matt Apicella made 11 saves to in the win.
Women’s Soccer (7-1-0)
Wednesday, September 26 — at Motamed Field
Southern Connecticut State 1
Recap: A penalty kick by Kelsey Burr of Southern Connecticut State in the 53rd minute on Wednesday night on Motamed Field proved to be the difference. The 1-0 decision in favor of the Owls handed Adelphi, the 16th-ranked team in Division II, its first defeat of 2018 and first loss to a Northeast 10 opponent in the regular season dating back to October 21, 2017.

Le Moyne 1 (OT)
Recap: Reigning Northeast-10 Player of the Week Kerianne Scorce of Massapequa led Adelphi women’s soccer team to a dramatic 2-1 victory against league foe Le Moyne College, tallying the game-tying and game-winning goals in the second half and overtime.
