Adelphi Recap: Men Get Two Wins, Women Have Tough Week

Adelphi’s men’s soccer team got back on track this past week with two big wins. On the women’s side, it was a challenging week as the team had a draw and a loss.

Men’s Soccer (10-2-1)

Wednesday, October 10 — Motamed Field

Southern Connecticut State 0
Recap: Dix Hills native Taylor Kaczynski’s fifth goal of the season led Adelphi to a seventh win in eight league games to date this season. Matt Apicella kept Southern Connecticut off the board with seven saves for his fifth shutout of the season.

Saturday, October 13 — Martone-Mejail Field, North Andover, MA

Recap:  Port Jefferson Station’s James Thristino’s game-winner in the 93rd minute led the Adelphi University men’s soccer team to its seventh straight win. Tommy Speed had the Panthers’ other goal.

Women’s Soccer (8-3-1)

Wednesday, October 10 — at Kathy Zolad Stadium, West Haven, CT.

Recap: Goals from Taylor Sipos of Merrick and Kerianne Scorce of Massapequa got Adelphi back in the win column as the Panthers shut out the University of New Haven on the road. Krista Aliscio of Hauppauge made three save to earn the clean sheet.

Recap: A game-winning overtime header by Stonehill College’s Camryn Thompson in the 95th minute handed Adelphi a 1-0 defeat.
