Three members of Adelphi’s soccer teams received Player of the Month honors from the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC).
Massapequa’s Kerrianne Scorce, a senior forward on Adelphi’s women’s soccer team, was named the Offensive Player of the Month.
On the men’s side, Adelphi’s Paolo Marciano, a sophomore midfielder/forward, was named Offensive Player of the Month. His teammate, senior keeper Matt Apicella, was named Defensive Player of the Month.
Also, New York Tech’s Che Richards, a redshirt freshman forward, was named the ECAC men’s Rookie of the Month.
Scorce led Adelphi in September with 10 points, scoring four goals and adding two assists leading the Panthers to a 4-2 start to the season. She assisted on two goals, including the game-winner, in a 4-0 upset win over then-No. 8 Southern New Hampshire University.
Marciano has been the offensive star for the No. 1-ranked Panthers. He leads the Northeast-10 Conference with seven goals and 17 points. Marciano is currently riding a six-game goal-scoring streak and has at least one point in six of the team’s seven matches this season. The native of Capaccio, Italy, nationally is in the Top 10 for points, goals, goals per game, points per game and shots per game.
Apicella posted a conference-best 6-0-0 record in September. He has allowed five goals in six starts for a 0.86 goals-against average, the second-lowest of any goalkeeper in the NE10.
At NYIT, Richards has started all eight games and has three goals and an assist. He tallied his first two collegiate goals including the game-winner in a 61-second span against Daemen College. He also scored the game-winner in an overtime win at Molloy.
