A brace from junior Lucy Whipp and two assists from Samie Scaffidi keyed a first-half offensive outburst for the St. John’s women’s soccer team, which defeated Buffalo 3-1 in the Red Storms’ home opener.

Whipp opened the scoring in the 11th minute and scored her second of the game in the 32nd minute to extend St. John’s lead to 3-1. Zsani Kajan scored the second Red Storm goal in the 27th minute.
