Three Long Island high school soccer players have been named United Soccer Coaches High School All-Americans.
On the Boys Team is Benjamin Hamilton, a senior forward at Center Moriches High School from Center Moriches. The Girls Team includes Talani Barnett, senior defense at Bay Shore High School from Bay Shore, and Hannah Franco, a senior forward at Islip High School from Islip.
The three are among 126 High School All-Americans (66 boys, 60 girls), which includes a total of 12 players from New York State.
Hamilton, who was also named Newsday’s Long Island Player of the Year, led Center
Moriches to a 21-0 record this past season and the New York State Class B title. In his senior season, he scored 40 goals and added 21 assists and finished is high school playing days with 83 goals.
Islip’s Franco, named Newsday’s Suffolk County Player of the Year, had eight goals and 18 assists in her senior season. A five-year varsity player, the Islip native will play her college ball on Long Island at NYIT.
At Bay Shore, Barnett scored five goals and had four assists and was named to Newsday’s All-Long Island team. She will play her college ball at Ohio State.
Players on this year’s United Soccer Coaches High School All-America Teams will be formally acknowledged for their accomplishments at the All-America Luncheon on January 20, 2018, at the Pennsylvania Convention Center in conjunction with the 2018 United Soccer Coaches Convention.
