Three Long Island high school soccer teams sit among the elite nationwide, according to recent polls from United Soccer Coaches.
In the October 3 boys Top-25 poll, Commack (9-0-1) moved up two spots from the previous week to No. 19.
During the past week, Commack won both its games, 3-0 over Ward Melville and 1-0 over Patchogue-Medford. On the season-to-date, Commack has seven clean sheets in its first 10 games.
The girls Top-25 poll for the week of October 3 includes season first timer St. Anthony’s (8-0-0), which enters the poll at No. 9, and Islip (9-0-1) sitting at No. 22 after not being in the poll the previous week.
Over the past week, St. Anthony’s had three victories with wins over Our Lady of Mercy 7-1, Sacred Heart 1-0 and St. John the Baptist 5-0. Islip week included wins over Rocky Point 8-1, Westhampton 6-0 and Hauppauge 5-1.
