It was an important weekend in the WPSL for SUSA FC, and the Long Island-based team finished its journeys to New Jersey and Rhode Island with six points.

On Saturday against the New Jersey Wildcats at Ranney School in Tinton Falls, N.J., SUSA trailed 2-0 at the half but then stormed back in the second 45 to grab a 3-2 win. Goals by Kristin Desmond and Rebecca Raber early in the second half brought SUSA level.

Raber would then put SUSA ahead for good when her corner kick would find its way into the New Jersey goal.

Sunday’s matchup against the Rhode Island Rogues was a rematch from the game between the two teams played at Bayport-Blue Point High School a week earlier. The 3-2 SUSA win was also the first defeat on the season for Rhode Island.

At Providence College, SUSA put forth a dominating performance in besting the Rogues 4-0. Jenna Blank scored twice and Desmond and Alexa Svensson chipped in with a goal each.

With the two wins, SUSA (6-1-0, W-L-D) tighten its grip on first place in the WPSL’s Metropolitan Conference. They close out their inaugural WPSL season on Saturday, June 30, at Bayport-Blue Point High School against Long Island Fury. Kick off is 4:30 p.m.

On June 9, SUSA defeated Fury 7-0 in a match played at NYIT in Old Westbury.
