SUSA Signs Three Ahead Of Inaugural WPSL Season

As SUSA FC prepares for its inaugural season in the Women’s Premier Soccer League, the team has signed its initial three players.

Joining SUSA are East Northport’s Kristin Desmond, Rebecca Raber of Bayport and Amber Birchwell of Mastic.

Desmond recently completed her collegiate career at Hofstra earning Third Team Division I All-American honors from United Soccer Coaches after leading the Pride to the Colonial Athletic Association championship and a berth in the NCAA Tournament.

Raber, who played collegiately at Binghamton University and earned her Bachelor’s Degree at Dowling University, has played professionally for FF Lugano in Switzerland. Her LinkedIn bio also lists her as a coach at SUSA.

Rounding out the SUSA trio is Birchwell, who currently attends Providence College. During her freshman season, she made 18 starts and had 19 appearances and finished the season with 2 goals and 2 assists. She was also named to the Big East All-Freshman Team.
