New York Surf midfielder Amy Marron received honorable mention honors this week following her performance in Week V of United Women’s Soccer.

In announcing the UWS Team of the Week, Marron was cited for her strong midfield play in Surf’s two weekend matches. A native of Valhalla, N.Y, Marra is a graduate of St. John’s University and current assistant coach with the Red Storm’s women’s soccer team. During her playing days for head coach Ian Stone in Queens, Marron appeared in 70 matches (69 starts) and had 8 goals with 11 assists.

On Saturday, Marron and her New York teammates battled back from a two-goal deficit to take a point in a 2-2 draw on the road in Agawam, Mass., vs. New England Mutiny. On Sunday, Surf returned home but fell to Rochester Lady Lancers 2-0.

Both Rochester goals were scored by Stony Brook University alumna Brooke Barbuto, who was named to the UWS Team of the Week for Week V.
