The award is the seventh conference honor of the Trondheim, Norway-native’s Stony Brook men’s soccer career. He shares the weekly award with Justin Freitas of the University of Vermont.
Gamwanya scored twice in Stony Brook’s 2-1 victory over St. Joseph’s on Wednesday. He netted the game-winning goal in the 87th minute on a pass from junior Mark Irvine. On Saturday, he tallied the equalizer in the 42nd minute against Siena. The Seawolves and Saints drew 1-1.
A starter in all five of Stony Brook’s matches this season as of September 10, Gamwanya’s three goals have already tied his career high, which he achieved twice in 2015 and 2016.
