Stony Brook Women Ranked 4th In America East

Coming off the 2016 season when Stony Brook’s women’s soccer team won six out of eight conference games and nine overall, the Seawolves were picked to finish No. 4 in the 2017 America East Women’s Soccer Preseason Coaches’ Poll.

Stony Brook received 45 total votes in the poll. Hartford enters the 2017 season as the favorite, receiving 58 total points (three first-place votes). Albany received 57 points (five first-place votes) and New Hampshire checked in just ahead of Stony Brook with 51 votes (one first-place vote).



The team finished 2016 with a record of 9-8-3, the program’s most victories since 2013. The Seawolves won six straight conference games, recorded eight shutouts and made their first postseason appearance since 2013.

The Seawolves returns two conference award winners from the 2016 season. America East All-Second Team selection Kaitlin Loughren (Huntington, N.Y.) is back for her junior season, while America East All-Rookie award winner Lea Kalmbach (Tettnang, Germany) returns for her sophomore season with the Seawolves.
