The Stony Brook men’s soccer team has set its spring schedule that includes five games, two of which are against Long Island-based colleges.
The Seawolves will open their spring slate on March 29, hosting LIU-Brooklyn at LaValle Stadium. The Blackbirds finished the 2018 campaign at 13-6-1, winning the Northeast Conference Tournament.
Stony Brook will then travel to South Orange, N.J., to take on Seton Hall on April 6. The Pirates, members of the Big East, went 6-7-2 last season. A week later, the Seawolves will battle another Big East-foe, St. John’s on April 12. The Red Storm finished last season 7-8-3.
On April 17, Stony Brook will be back at home to face Adelphi. The Panthers finished the 2018 season ranked sixth in the NCAA Division II rankings after reaching the National Quarterfinals.
The Seawolves will then wrap-up its spring slate with a trip to West Point, N.Y. on April 26 to face Army. The Black Knights went 8-10-2 last season, falling to Colgate in the Patriot League Championship.
“We are looking forward to our spring season,” said head coach Ryan Anatol. “This semester is a time of development and we have been working on building our identity and the approach to how we will play. We have scheduled a competitive slate of games that will challenge us and allow us to evaluate where we are individually and collectively heading into the fall season.”
The Seawolves are coming off of a 9-6-3 season, which saw them capture the America East Regular Season Title. Stony Brook went 5-1-1 in conference play, its best mark since the 2005 campaign.
