Sky Blue FC has added another New Jersey native to its roster with the signing of midfielder Kenie Wright.
The 29th overall pick in the 2019 NWSL College Draft, the Mount Laurel, N.J., native played her college ball at Rutgers University. Per team and league policies, terms of the contract were not announced.
“I am so thankful to be signing with Sky Blue FC,” said Wright. “It has been a dream of mine to play at this level since I was a kid. Thank you to my family, friends and everyone at Rutgers for being so supportive along the way.”
During her time as a member of the Scarlet Knights, Knight made 88 appearances and 77 starts in her four years in Piscataway. In her senior year, she was recognized as a member of the 2018 Second Team All-Big Ten and was the Sportsmanship Award Honoree.
“Kenie has had a solid pre-season and has been a great spark to our squad,” said Denise Reddy, the team’s head coach. “She is a multi-positional player and a consistent worker who brings energy day-in and day-out.”
