Sky Blue Acquires Eddy From North Carolina

Sky Blue FC has acquired midfielder Elizabeth Eddy from North Carolina Courage in exchange for forward McKenzie Meehan.

Eddy, 27, was drafted by Sky Blue FC in the 2014 NWSL College Draft as the 33rd overall selection before being traded to the Western New York Flash. She was later signed to a contract in the 2015 NWSL season.

She comes to Sky Blue FC to with five years of experience in the NWSL after being a part of the 2016 Western New York Flash and 2018 North Carolina Courage Championship teams.

During the first part of the 2019 season with the Courage, she has appeared in three games and scored one goal. In her five seasons in the NWSL, she has appeared in a total of 45 matches and recorded 4 goals and 4 assists. Eddy played a key role in the midfield for the 2016 Western New York Flash Champions playing and starting in all 20 matches, logging 1,754 minutes.

Playing at the University of Southern California, she began her career as a Trojan scoring five goals and notching three assists as a freshman and was named to PAC-10 All-Freshman Team. In her sophomore year, she was USC’s leading goal-scorer with four goals and two assists. In her senior year, she led the attack with six goals in 18 appearances.

In 2010, Eddy helped lead the U-20 U.S. Women’s National Team to the Concacaf Championship. She was a member of the U-17 U.S. Women’s National Team that finished second at the U-17 FIFA World Cup.

Meehan was drafted by Sky Blue FC in the 2017 NWSL College draft with the 34th overall selection. She leaves New Jersey after appearing in a total of 31 matches, recording 966 minutes and one assist.
