The Long Island Rough Riders women’s team extended its winning streak to three with a 6-0 win over the Worcester Smiles in a rain-shortened United Women’s Soccer match Wednesday at Hofstra Soccer Stadium.
With the win, Long Island improves to 4-2-0 (12 points) on the season.
Although the game was cut short in the 58th minute, the Long Island offense nonetheless dominated the game, led by Kayla Saager’s hat trick. In fact, it took the East Islip native and former Binghamton University star only 14 minutes to get her three goals. Her tallies came in the 34th, 37th and 48th minutes.
Amanda Buck and Kim Marra also scored for the Rough Riders. The sixth goal came via a Worcester own goal.
The win was also the third clean sheet for Long Island as keeper Shannon Gray kept the Smiles off the scoreboard.
The Rough Riders will be back in action on June 15 when they take on the Lancaster Inferno at Millersville University in Millersville, Pa. Kickoff is 5 p.m.
