Saager Nets Brace For Binghamton On Senior Day

Two of three seniors honored by Binghamton’s women’s soccer program during Senior Day on Sunday hail from Long Island, and one had a big day on the scoresheet.

Prior to the Bearcats match with LIU Brooklyn, East Islip’s Kayla Saager, Lynbrook’s Patty Loonie and Kaycee Pickard (Woodbridge, VA) received accolades as the three each play their final season with Binghamton.

When the whistle blew, the Bearcats dominated the Blackbirds 4-0, with Saager netting a brace to give her eight goals on the season. Her first goal came off a breakaway in the 71st minute and her second, assisted by Loonie, came in the 84th minute and was also scored on a breakaway.

Saager had seven shots in the game, five of which were on goal. Through 10 matches this season, the East Islip native has 8 goals and 2 assists. This follows her junior season when in 19 games she had 11 goals and 7 assists.

Her fellow Long Islander, goalkeeper Haylee Poltorak of Massapequa, had two saves in the game to earn her third win of the season and third straight clean sheet.
