Tim Estermann, Manuel Ferriol and Niclas Mohr will be playing their summer ball on Long Island. The trio were members of the Dukes team that won the Colonial Athletic Association title and advanced to the NCAA Tournament quarterfinals.
“JMU had an incredible season in 2018 and Manu, Tim and Niclas were a huge part of their success,” said Stephen Roche, Rough Riders head coach.
Ferriol, a junior midfielder from Spain, lead James Madison with a career-high nine goals and five assists for 23 points in 16 games. The First Team All-Atlantic Region and second team All-CAA player scored three goals in the first two rounds of the 2018 NCAA Championship. This included a brace against High Point and another goal against the University of North Carolina.
“Manu is one of the best college players in the country with his ability to score and create goals,” said Roche.
Estermann, a junior midfielder/forward from Switzerland, had three goals in 23 appearances (seven starts) during the 2018 season for JMU. Among his season highlights were the two goals he scored in 13 seconds against Gardner-Webb on Aug. 24.
“Tim is a dynamic midfielder with an incredible engine,” Roche said. “He will be incredibly important with and without the ball.”
Mohr, a junior defender/midfielder from Germany, had four assists and one goal in 20 appearances (12 starts) in 2018. He scored in the 2-1 NCAA quarterfinal loss to Michigan State and had a pair of assists in a 4-0 win against the University of Delaware on Sept. 26.
“Niclas, who can play in a number of positions, is a very consistent and hard-working player with an excellent left foot,” Roche said. “All three will play a huge part in any success the Rough Riders have this summer.”
